Paste the links from a placement report and the checker opens each one. It tells you which pages are live, which are gone, and which now lead somewhere else. It counts the unique sites and the repeated links, so you can compare the report's numbers with what is live today. Add your headline or company name and it checks that the story is still on each page. It checks up to 20 links at a time and stores nothing.

What the results mean
- Live. The page answered normally just now, at the address in the report. Some sites answer normally even when a story has been taken down, so add your headline to check the story itself is there.
- Moved. The link now leads to a different page, on the same site or another. A removed story often sends visitors to the site's home page, so open it and check your story is what you land on.
- Gone. The site says the page does not exist (404 or 410). Placements on news sites are sometimes removed after a period, so note when the report was made.
- Site blocked the check. Some news sites turn away automated visits. That says nothing about your story, so open these links yourself.
- Open it yourself. The page timed out, redirected too many times, or redirected to an address the checker does not open.
- Phrase on page. Whether your headline or name appears in the page as it was sent. Text a site adds later with scripts may not be seen, so a "Not found" is worth a look by hand.
What to compare with the report
Check three numbers against the report: how many links it lists, how many unique sites they are on, and how many are live today. A report that counts the same site twice, or counts placements that never went live, will show it here. What a placement report should show explains what to expect in a good one.
Privacy
The links and phrase you enter are sent once to NewsUSA's server, which opens each page and returns the result to your browser. NewsUSA does not store, log or share the links, the phrase or the results; they exist only on your screen until you download them. To stop misuse, the server counts checks per connection for ten minutes under a one-way code made from the connection's address, then deletes the count.
Questions
How do I check if my PR placements are real?
Open every link in the report, or paste them into a checker like this one. Then count the unique sites, look for repeats, and check that your story is on each page. Ask the vendor about any link that is gone or does not show your story.
Why does a link say the site blocked the check?
Some news sites refuse automated visits to protect themselves from scrapers. The page may be fine. Open those links in your browser to see them.
Does the checker keep my links?
No. Each link is opened once to get its status. NewsUSA does not store or log the links, the phrase or the results.
How this page was made
A tool, not a guide. The checker opens each link once from NewsUSA's server with an 8-second limit and reports the answer the site gave. It does not store links, phrases or results. It contains no NewsUSA figures. How these guides are made.
